Dusty "Because it's what we do!"
John Martin "He who stands in the back (Anishinaabe name) and - He who helps with his hands Lakota name) and many other names of endearment was a good friend who will be missed by so many.
Those not fortunate enough to know him, will no doubt come to know him through the many good stories he left in our hearts. He'll be remembered as the one who no one wanted to spare with because he hit so hard in his boxing days but for the gentle spirit. Even with the many ailments he suffered with daily he always made it a priority to think of and pray for others and minimize his own pain. The stories are endless of our time together, always a good laugh, even when we would visit him in his many stays in the hospital. If you had him as your friend he was your best friend. I know you're looking down on us from a place of comfort now "Bud" We'll continue to sing your song "Mik Maq honor song" and remember you fondly, maybe even laugh and make the "bring it gesture" you'd make when we would send the lead to you on the drum and then fumble. Wish I had more pictures than I have but I have a ton of stories and memories. Also there is a video coming out where he was interviewed by another friend of ours just a couple weeks before he walked on and hope to be able to share that as soon as it's available. |
